New Delhi. Fast bowler Umesh Yadav says that Jasprit Bumrah is trying too many things and that is why his performance in this IPL has not been consistent. Whereas Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been successful because of his clear planning and his ability to perform well in both powerplay and death overs. Bhuvneshwar is the highest wicket-taker in this season of IPL. He has taken 17 wickets in nine matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Whereas Bumrah of Mumbai Indians has faced a lot of difficulties this season and has taken only three wickets in 10 matches.

Geostar expert Umesh said, ‘Bhuvi and his team’s plan is clear. He bowls in both powerplay and death overs and his strategy is fixed. He can swing the ball both ways. Bhuvi remains consistent in his line, length and ‘variations’ whereas Bumrah is trying too many things which is creating problems for him.

Umesh said, ‘Bumrah’s performance for Mumbai this season has not been consistent. Sometimes he is asked to bowl in the powerplay, while sometimes he comes to bowl in such situations when there is no pressure on him. This is affecting their performance. The team should create aggressive bowling opportunities for Bumrah and give him opportunities to take wickets.

Umesh Yadav also said that due to the form of Rishabh Pant, Lucknow Super Giants have suffered a lot of losses and the team has also failed to field the right combination. He said, ‘This is Pant’s decision. Responsibility is on them and they have to take decisions. His and the team’s performance has declined in the last two years. There have been a lot of ups and downs in batting this year.

Umesh said, ‘The team combination is not right. Pant’s form is also not good. Nicholas Puran had scored runs in the last match only. Nothing is working properly for them. Batting is a big problem this year. Everyone has to contribute together in T20. Their batting order is not the same. You’re just trying to find something. You should have some confidence and not change the order in every match. For this you will have to sit and talk with the batsman. When asked about the playoffs, Umesh said, ‘Punjab Kings, RCB, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad are possible contenders for the top four.
