Shivam Dube creates history: There have been many such occasions in Indian cricket when players made their special days more memorable with brilliant performances on the field. Taking a wicket on a birthday is a unique and rare moment for any bowler. Shivam Dubey has registered his name in the pages of history by entering this exclusive club.

Mumbai’s aggressive all-rounder Shivam Dube made his 33rd birthday very special. In the first T20 International match played against Ireland in Belfast, he bowled brilliantly and gave a big success to India. With this wicket, he has joined the list of select bowlers of India who have achieved the honor of taking wickets in international cricket on their birthday.

Shivam Dubey looked completely in rhythm during the match. He deceived Irish batsman Benjamin Calitz with one of his excellent short-pitched balls. Calitz tried to play a pull shot on this ball of Dubey, but the ball took the upper edge of his bat and floated in the air. Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, standing ready at fine leg, took a safe catch without making any mistake and Dubey got the biggest birthday gift.

By taking this wicket, Shivam Dubey became the fourth Indian bowler in the history of Indian cricket to take a wicket on his birthday. Before him, only three Indian players had been able to accomplish this unique feat. With this achievement, Dubey confirmed his place in the exclusive club of former India’s legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, current star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and magical spinner Kuldeep Yadav.

Yuvraj Singh’s name figures prominently among the legends who started this special series. Yuvraj gave an unforgettable performance against Sri Lanka on the ground of Mohali in the year 2008 on his 27th birthday. He not only defeated the opposing team with the ball, but also caused such havoc with the bat that the Sri Lankan team had no answer to it. This match became one of the most memorable birthdays of Yuvraj’s career.

In that match in Mohali, Yuvraj Singh displayed the magic of his spin bowling and showed the way to the pavilion to three important batsmen of Sri Lanka by giving 23 runs in just three overs. After this, when he came out to bat, he hit fours and sixes all around the field. Yuvi played a blazing innings of 60 unbeaten runs in just 25 balls and won the title of ‘Player of the Match’ by leading India to a one-sided victory by six wickets.

Indian team’s trusted all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also celebrated his birthday in a very special way. He achieved this feat in the first T20 International of the three-match series played against West Indies in Hyderabad. That day, Jadeja was celebrating his 30th birthday and as soon as he stepped on the field, he stunned the West Indies batsmen with his precise bowling.

On his 30th birthday, Ravindra Jadeja bowled the full four overs of his quota and spent only 30 runs while being very economical. During this, he also took a big wicket of West Indies, which turned the match towards India. India performed brilliantly in this match and defeated West Indies by six wickets and doubled Jadeja’s birthday celebrations with the victory.

The name that shines the most in this entire record is that of wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Kuldeep is the only bowler in India who has done the miracle of taking wickets on his birthday, not on one, but on two different occasions. The opposing batsmen have often looked helpless in front of his magical spin, and when it is his birthday, Kuldeep’s courage becomes even higher.

Kuldeep Yadav did this feat for the first time in the year 2023 against South Africa in Johannesburg. On his 27th birthday, Kuldeep bowled such lethal bowling that the South African batsmen fell apart like a pack of cards. He bowled only 2.5 overs and dismissed 5 batsmen for just 17 runs. Thanks to this ‘five-wicket haul’, India had registered a resounding victory in that match.

Exactly a year later, when the South African team was on India tour, Kuldeep celebrated his 31st birthday on the beautiful grounds of Dharamshala. In this match too, he repeated the history of his birthday and took two important wickets of South Africa by giving only 12 runs in two overs. India won this match by seven wickets. In this way, by making his birthday memorable with wickets and wins for the second consecutive year, Kuldeep set a record which would be a big challenge for any bowler to break.
