IND vs IRE 1st T20 Match Reports Highlights: Batting first, Ireland scored 182 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. For the host team, captain Lorcan Tucker scored the highest innings of 50 runs while Gareth Delaney scored 49 runs on 32 balls. Abhishek Sharma scored a half century for India. Ireland had set a challenging target of 183 runs for India to win. In reply, the Indian team could score only 148 runs in 18.5 overs. Team India’s start was very disappointing. Ireland captain Lorcan Tucker scored a half-century of 50 runs in 36 balls, but he did not get good support from any other batsman except Gareth Delany (49 runs in 32 balls). Indian fast bowlers took three wickets of Ireland for 30 runs by sending Tim Tector (17), Harry Tector (0) and Ross Adair (12) to the pavilion early in the powerplay. Ireland could score only 36 runs in the first six overs.
Shivam Dubey dismissed Callits
Dubey also took advantage of short length balls to dismiss Ben Calitz (15), who hit two sixes on Prasidh Krishna. At that time Ireland’s score was 51 runs for four wickets. After this, captain Tucker and Delaney together took charge of the innings and added 64 runs for the fifth wicket. Tucker was slow in the beginning, but soon he showed aggressive attitude and completed his half-century against Akshar by hitting two consecutive fours and a six in the 13th over. He also hit a four with a brilliant scoop shot on a ball from Prasidh. Tucker’s innings ended with Harshit Rana being caught out by Tilak Verma on a slow bouncer.
Delaney played an inning of 49 runs
Delaney and George Dockrell (19) then made a partnership of 49 runs between 14.3 and 17.1 overs, taking the team beyond 150 runs. Delany scored 27 runs in the last over of Prasidh by hitting one four and three sixes. However, he missed his half-century and was caught by Tilak on the ball of Arshdeep Singh on 49 runs.
