Before Vaibhav Suryavanshi, only global personalities like India’s greatest batsman Sachin Tendulkar (2014) and Virat Kohli (2017) were able to secure their place on the cover of this prestigious magazine. However, at such a young age (just 15 years) on the cover page of Wisden Vaibhav has become the first and youngest Indian cricketer in history to dominate.

New Delhi. In the world of cricket, the success of a player’s career is measured not just by the runs he scores, but by his impact on the game. When the most prestigious and historical magazine of the game ‘Wisden Cricket Monthly’ gives a place to a player on its cover page, it means that the cricket world has accepted a new megastar. 15-year-old young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Samastipur, Bihar has created the same history by appearing on the cover of Wisden in its June 2026 issue.
In its headline, Wisden has described Vaibhav Suryavanshi as a ‘genius’ who broke the traditional boundaries of the game. Before Vaibhav Suryavanshi, only global personalities like India’s greatest batsman Sachin Tendulkar (2014) and Virat Kohli (2017) were able to secure their place on the cover of this prestigious magazine. However, Vaibhav is the first and youngest Indian in the history to appear on the cover page of Wisden at such a young age (just 15 years). Have become a cricketer.
Wisden said- “This boy changed cricket”
The biggest reason for Vaibhav getting a place on the cover page of Wisden magazine is his ‘Fearless Mindset’ i.e. fearless attitude. According to his Rajasthan Royals mentor Zubin Bharucha, Vaibhav does not look at the bowler’s name or his height while batting, he just focuses on the ball. Even the world’s most lethal bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Pat Cummins or Mitchell Starc looked ineffective against him in IPL 2026. Vaibhav has changed the definition of ‘good length’ in traditional cricket. He has the ability to send both front-foot and back-foot balls across the boundary with his power without moving forward on the crease. By scoring the fastest half-century in List-A cricket history in just 11 balls against Sri Lanka ‘A’, he proved that his bat is not made for scoring runs but for making records.
Struggled journey from selling land to ‘Orange Cap’
This success of Vaibhav Suryavanshi has not been achieved overnight, but behind it lies the strict sacrifice and discipline of a farmer family of a small village. There was a time when Vaibhav’s father (Sanjeev Suryavanshi) even sold his farming land to keep his son’s dream of cricket training alive. From the age of just 9, Vaibhav used to travel 100 kilometers from Samastipur to Patna every other day so that he could practice on a better pitch. The fruit of this sacrifice was visible when Vaibhav made India the world champion for the sixth time by playing an aggressive innings of 175 runs in just 80 balls against England in the final of the 2026 Under-19 World Cup. Right after this, Vaibhav created a stir while playing for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2026 season. He created fear in the minds of bowlers throughout the season, scoring 776 runs at an incredible strike rate of over 237 and became the youngest person to win the ‘Orange Cap’. His explosive style made him the most popular batsman in the world overnight.
Golden future of Indian cricket
The picture of Vaibhav Suryavanshi on the cover of Wisden is not just a personal success of a player, but it is a new picture of the changing Indian cricket. All set to make his debut as India’s youngest international cricketer, Vaibhav has proved that age is just a number if you have talent and unwavering confidence. The world is now witnessing the rise of this new Suryavanshi, whose journey has just begun but its threat is echoing across the world.
