Diabetes problem in India
Diabetes is already a big problem in India. The country is often called the diabetes capital, where crores of people are struggling with this disease. Now its cases are increasing rapidly among children also. Type 1 diabetes is usually seen in children, in which the body stops producing insulin. There could be reasons behind this like genetic reasons, infection and better identification, whereas in type 2 diabetes, diet, lifestyle and lack of physical activity play a big role.
cause serious problems
If diabetes in children is not treated timely, it can cause serious problems. Kidney failure, impact on eyesight, heart disease and in many cases even life-threatening complications can occur.
Uniform system throughout the country
Through the new guidelines, a uniform system will now be implemented in the entire country. In this, emphasis has been laid on screening of children from birth to 18 years. Free treatment for children in government hospitals
The special thing about this scheme is that children will get free treatment in government hospitals. This includes necessary tests, insulin, glucometer, test strips and regular follow up. This will especially provide relief to poor families, because diabetes treatment takes a long time and also costs a lot. In the new system, the entire treatment process has been linked together, so that there is no interruption anywhere. Starting from village and school level, treatment facilities will be available till district hospital and medical college. With this, children will continue to receive continuous care, which is very important in this disease.
Emphasis on 4T also
Emphasis has also been laid on 4T for early identification. This includes frequent urination, excessive thirst, constant fatigue and sudden weight loss. These signs can alert parents and teachers in time. Along with this, training will also be given to the family and caregivers, so that they can take proper care of the children. Information will be given about giving insulin, testing sugar and what to do in an emergency.
