Punjab Kings on top even after consecutive defeats, Mumbai out of playoff race!

The journey of Punjab Kings team’s consecutive wins in the Indian Premier League 2026 has now come to an end. First the team had to face defeat against Rajasthan Royals and now Gujarat Titans. Even after losing two matches, the team remains at the first position in the points table. Royal Challengers Bangalore is at second place and Sunrisers Hyderabad is at third place.

Punjab Kings top the points table even after two consecutive defeats
New Delhi. On Sunday, Gujarat Titans defeated Punjab Kings on the basis of star opener Sai Sudarshan’s 57-run innings and stormy bowling by the bowling trio. Thanks to the lethal bowling of Mohammed Siraj, Jason Holder and Kagiso Rabada, the Titans restricted Punjab to 163 runs. Sudarshan once again played a strong innings for the team that set out to achieve the target of victory. Debutant Suryansh Shedge scored 57 runs. Even after the defeat, Punjab team is at the first position in the points table.
There has been no change in the points table of Indian Premier League 2026 even after Punjab’s defeat and Gujarat’s victory. Even now Shreyas Iyer’s team Punjab remains at number one. Gujarat Titans is still at fifth place in the points table. After the victory, now the points of Shubman Gill’s team have increased to 12 while Punjab Kings are on 13 points.
No change in marks table
At present, if we look at the points table, Punjab has 13 points after playing 9 matches, winning 6, losing 2 and one match being inconclusive. At second place is the team of Royal Challengers which has played the same number of matches as Punjab and is on 12 points with 6 wins and 3 losses. Sunrisers Hyderabad team has played 10 matches in which it has won 6 and lost 4. This team also has 12 points. Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat have played and won equal number of matches as Hyderabad. On the basis of net run rate, he is currently at fourth and fifth position.
Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals have played 9 matches and scored 8 points with 4 wins. In the points table, Chennai is at sixth and Delhi is at seventh. Kolkata Knight Riders have won 3 out of 9 matches and are in eighth place. Mumbai team is at number 9 which has only 2 wins in its account after 9 matches. At the bottom is Lucknow Super Giants, who have won only 2 matches after playing 8 matches so far.
