What is the life of an IPS monitor?
Normally IPS monitors work for a long time. Most IPS panels can be used for about 30,000 to 60,000 hours, after which their brightness reduces by about 50 percent compared to a new device.
If a person uses the monitor for about 8 hours daily, then this period can reach about 10 to 20 years. This is why IPS monitors are considered one of the longer life displays.
Monitors with LED backlight are more durable
The lifespan of an IPS panel not only depends on the panel itself but its backlight technology also plays an important role. Older monitors used CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) backlight which had an average life of about 25,000 to 40,000 hours. Whereas IPS monitors with advanced LED backlight are often capable of providing excellent performance for 50,000 hours or more.
Since 2010, monitor manufacturers gradually abandoned CCFL technology and shifted to LED backlight. Therefore, almost all IPS monitors available in the market today come with LED technology.

Always use at very high brightness
If the monitor is operated continuously at 100% brightness for a long time, there is more pressure on the backlight. This can cause the brightness to decrease rapidly over time.
