Ireland made Lorcan Tucker the captain.
New Delhi. Ireland has announced the team for the T20 series against India. Lorcan Tucker will captain the 14-member team, in which several senior players are out due to injury. Both the countries will play a two-match series on June 26 and 28. Lorcan Tucker has been playing the role of vice-captain since the year 2025. He has already replaced the captain twice, but now he is completely taking over the responsibility of captaincy from Paul Stirling. With this, Ireland has different captains in all three formats.
6 players out due to injury
In the Ireland team, Matthew Hallard and Jai Mundra have been called to the senior team for the first time, while young bowler Ruben Wilson has got a place in the T20 team for the first time after his Test debut against New Zealand last month. Major changes have been made in Ireland’s T20 team.
Six regular players are out with serious injuries, including Josh Little (stress fracture), Mark Adair (rectus muscle tear), regular white-ball star Paul Sterling (calf muscle tear), Curtis Campher (fractured hand), Barry McCarthy (complete ACL tear), and Jordan Neal (shoulder and foot injuries).
What did Tucker say about his captaincy?
Tucker, who has played 159 matches at international level, said about his leadership philosophy, “My approach to captaincy is to be around the team and lead by example. I feel I have a good relationship with all the staff and players and I can work with integrity and empathy. I feel my job is to get the best out of them and give them the opportunity to do great things for themselves and for us as a team. If I ask them to do something, I do it.” “I want it to be clear that I had previously asked myself to do the same things.”
