Australia achieved its third win by defeating Netherlands by 98 runs in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup match with the help of half-centuries from wicket-keeper batsman Beth Mooney (74 runs) and Ashley Gardner (58 runs). Australia is on top in Group One with six points with three wins in three matches. India is at second position with two wins in two matches. In another match of the group, Bangladesh women’s team registered its second win by defeating Pakistan by 23 runs. Pakistan has not been able to register any win in two matches so far.

After getting the chance to bat, Australia made a big score of 219 runs for six wickets with half-centuries from ‘Player of the Match’ Mooney and Gardner and a partnership of 101 runs in 55 balls for the third wicket. In reply, the Netherlands team could score only 121 runs for three wickets in 20 overs in which captain Babette de Leede scored unbeaten 56 runs (57 balls, five fours) and Sterre Kallis contributed 44 runs. Australia bowled with eight bowlers in which Kim Garth took two wickets and Annabel Sutherland took one wicket.

Pakistan’s second consecutive defeat.

Mooney scored a half-century in 42 balls with nine fours and one six before being retired hurt. He made a partnership of 101 runs in 55 balls for the third wicket with Gardner. Gardner hit eight fours and one six in 32 balls. Apart from these, Georgia Wareham scored 41 runs. For Netherlands, Iris Zwilling took three wickets and Caroline de Lange took two wickets.

In the second match of the day, Bangladesh team won the toss and batted first and scored 123 runs for six wickets in 20 overs in which Shoran Akhtar scored unbeaten 39 runs and captain Nigar Sultana scored 36 runs. Pakistan’s Fatima Sana got two wickets.

While chasing the target, Pakistan team could score only 100 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Muniba Ali scored 25 runs and Gul Firoza scored 23 runs. Among Bangladesh bowlers, Sanjeeda Akhtar Meghla and Nahida Akhtar took three wickets each while Rabia Khan and Ritu Moni got one wicket each.
