- The government disabled the editing feature of Telegram.
Telegram Vs WhatsApp: This week, the Indian government has imposed a temporary ban on Telegram. In view of NEET Re Exam, it has been banned till 22nd June. The government says that the gangs involved in paper leak incidents are targeting the candidates preparing for the exam through this app. Apart from this, some such features are available in Telegram, which can deliver information to more people very fast and with complete secrecy. Such features are not available on WhatsApp, the most used messaging platform in India. Today we are going to tell you which features are there in Telegram, which are completely missing from WhatsApp.
username
Users get more privacy on Telegram than WhatsApp. By hiding the phone number on Telegram, one can connect to others only through the username. People like this feature very much from privacy point of view. On the other hand, everything on WhatsApp happens through phone number. From creating an account to connecting with other people, this app asks for phone numbers.
Scheduled and self destructing messages
On Telegram, users get the option to schedule messages. That means the user can select the time in advance when to send the message. This feature is not available on WhatsApp. There is also an option for self-destructing messages in Telegram. Custom timer can be set on this. The message will disappear after the timer completes. There is a similar disappearing message option on WhatsApp.
chat customization
Telegram also has more options for chat customization than WhatsApp. Telegram can create theme, adjust color and change chat background as per their wish. On the other hand, these features are missing from WhatsApp. Now the company has brought this feature in its subscription plan, but you will have to pay to use it.
large groups
Much larger groups can be created on Telegram than on WhatsApp. On this app, any user can create a group with complete secrecy and up to two lakh people can be added to it. It is used to convey information to a large number of people simultaneously. On the other hand, such large groups cannot be created on WhatsApp.
message editing
There is a lot of controversy these days on another feature of Telegram and that feature is related to message editing. On Telegram, a group administrator can edit a message without changing its original timestamp. This feature is not available on WhatsApp. Large groups and message editing are such features which are considered to be the biggest reasons for banning Telegram. The government has ordered to keep the message editing feature disabled till June 30.
