Did not play against Gujarat, when will MS Dhoni come back? CSK head coach replied

The fans of Chennai Super Kings were hopeful that MS Dhoni would come to the field on Sunday, 26th April. The match started and then not even a glimpse of Dhoni was seen until Chennai lost by 8 wickets. Questions are constantly being asked as to what is the reason for the delay in Dhoni’s return. CSK head coach Stephen Fleming has answered this biggest question. His answer has not brought good news for the fans of Chennai team.

MS Dhoni was struggling with calf injury since the beginning of the IPL 2026 season. The management of Chennai Super Kings had initially said that it would take about 2 weeks for Dhoni to recover, but almost a month has passed since the start of the season, but Dhoni has not been seen far and wide.

Why did MS Dhoni not return?

In the post-match presentation after the 8-wicket defeat at the hands of Gujarat Titans, head coach Stephen Fleming said that it is very difficult to recover from the calf injury. If he comes out to play and gets injured again, he will be out of the entire season. Fleming said, “My understanding is that Dhoni suffered a calf injury in a warm-up match. After that, he is working hard to become fully fit.”

When will you be able to recover?

MS Dhoni was recently seen practicing with the team and is also traveling with the team for away matches. Coach Stephen Fleming told that he is practicing hard with the physio to get full fitness. Fleming said that he is only waiting for permission regarding Dhoni. The coach definitely expressed hope that Dhoni would return soon, but did not reveal any date.
