Sairaj Bahutule gave statement regarding Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

New Delhi. India’s spin bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule says that it is difficult to understand what caused Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s argument on the field with the Sri Lanka A player, but the young batsman will learn from this incident and avoid such incidents in future. The 15-year-old player had a heated argument which almost turned into a scuffle after India’s Super Over defeat against Sri Lanka A in the tri-series match in Dambulla.

On the eve of the second ODI between India and Afghanistan, Bahutule said, ‘It was an unfortunate incident, but we do not know how he was provoked because I know him and Vaibhav is a very calm boy. I am sure there are experienced coaches there who will guide him properly.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi had a heated argument with Sri Lanka A team.

‘Teach manners to Sri Lanka’
He said, ‘Sri Lankan players should also be taught how to behave on the field. Bahutule has worked with Suryavanshi at various age group levels with the India Under-19 team and the Indian Cricket Board’s Center of Excellence.

He also served as the spin bowling coach of Rajasthan Royals during the 2025 IPL season, when Suryavanshi made his debut in the tournament. The former Mumbai captain said, ‘He will learn. He is a young player who has a big responsibility to represent India. I am sure he will not do it again and such incidents can be avoided.

What was the whole matter?
Actually, the dispute happened after the last ball of the super over. To win the match, India A had to score 19 runs in the super over and 8 runs were needed on the last ball to win. Sri Lanka ‘A’ fast bowler Kugathus Mathulan bowled an accurate yorker ball, on which Vaibhav Suryavanshi could not hit the shot and Sri Lanka A won the match.
