RCB won this match on its home ground by 5 wickets and reached second place in the points table with 10 points. This defeat must have been stinging like a thorn for Gujarat Titans, because after setting a target of 206 runs, Washington Sundar made a big mistake in the very first over during RCB’s batting, due to which the entire team had to bear the brunt. Actually, Sundar dropped Virat Kohli’s catch on the very first ball of the innings, after which RCB’s opener changed the course of the match.
RCB needed a good start while chasing a big target, while Gujarat needed wickets. Shubman Gill handed over the responsibility of the first over to Mohammad Siraj. On the second ball of Siraj, Jacob Bethal took the ball and gave the strike to Virat Kohli. Kohli was trapped by Siraj on the very first ball. Siraj bowled an inbound good length ball towards Kohli’s pads, which Virat could not leave even if he wanted to. Kohli flicked it and the ball went straight to Sundar standing at short mid-wicket, but he dropped this easy catch and Virat got a lease of life. If Sundar had taken this catch, Virat would have been out on a golden duck.
