New Delhi: Axar Patel-led Delhi Capitals faced their third defeat in IPL 2026. Delhi team has played a total of 6 matches so far this season. The team’s sixth match was with Sunrisers Hyderabad. In this match, the Delhi captain decided to bowl first after winning the toss. The bowlers created some chances for Delhi in the beginning, but due to poor fielding the team had to suffer heavy losses. This is the reason why after the 47-run defeat against Sunrisers, the Delhi captain looked very disappointed with his team’s fielding.

After the match, captain Axar Patel said, “If we had caught the run-outs and catches of Abhishek Sharma that we missed in the innings, perhaps we could have restricted them to a low score, but yes, if someone bats so well and there is no flaw in his timing, then such a performance has to be praised. The way Klaasen was playing on the other side, it is not the fault of the bowlers.”

Delhi was supported by SRH’s stormy batting

Akshar Patel said about Sunrisers’ batting, “When a batsman plays like this, the coach and captain should accept that it is not possible to stop him. I was telling the same thing to the bowlers that if you implemented your plan properly and still he hits a good shot, then you cannot do anything. You just have to move forward.” Let us tell you that in the match, Sunrisers batted first and scored 242 runs. In response, Delhi Capitals could score only 195 runs.

He said, “Fielding is in your hands. Taking catches and running out, you can do this. At such times, it is very important to support the bowler and I think that is where we could have done better.” Regarding possible changes in the team after this defeat, Akshar Patel said, “Right now I don’t feel that any changes should be made because the way the cricket is going, we are doing both batting and bowling well. I think when the pitch is so good, then it should be forgotten as just a bad day.”
