34-year-old Holder, who is returning to the Indian Premier League (IPL) after two seasons, has not yet found a place in the Titans’ eleven. The management has given preference to foreign players like Jos Buttler, Rashid Khan, Glenn Phillips and Kagiso Rabada over the holders associated with the team with an amount of Rs 7 crore. However, after the 99-run defeat against Mumbai Indians on Monday, the Titans team may reconsider the combination.

Jason Holder can become the finisher for the team

Holder is capable of bowling in the powerplay and last overs as well as playing the role of a finisher in the lower order. Holder said in a special conversation with PTI that it is more important to be prepared rather than getting involved in external discussions regarding selection. He said, “When to play, who should play or who should not play. Getting worried about these things consumes a lot of unnecessary energy. As a player, your job is to be ready and contribute to the team when you get the opportunity.”

He said, “I don’t get involved in who plays or who should bat or bowl. What is important for us is what the team needs to win.” Regarding his ideal batting order, Holder said that wherever the team thinks he is needed, that is the right position for him. He said that now he focuses on adapting himself to the circumstances and completing the work for the team. He said, “I have come here to play and whenever I get an opportunity, I want to capitalize on it fully. I want to enjoy it and contribute to the team’s victory.”

Holder has no problem in bowling 4 overs for the team

Regarding bowling, he said, “I have been bowling four overs throughout my career, so there is nothing different in this. Whatever the team needs, I am ready.” While chasing 200 runs to win against Mumbai Indians, Shubman Gill-led Titans were all out for 100 runs. After this crushing defeat, the team has fallen out of the top five in the points table. Gujarat’s next match is against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday.
