The International Cricket Council has announced record prize money for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. ICC announced that this time the team winning the T20 World Cup will get 81,64,615 US dollars, which is equivalent to approximately 81.80 crore Indian rupees. The Women’s T20 World Cup will be played from June 12 to July 5, hosted by England and Wales. This is 10 percent more than last time.
This is the first time that 12 teams from the world will be participating in the Women’s T20 World Cup. Last time the prize money was US $ 79,58,077. This time the prize money has been increased to US$ 81,64,615.
Whichever team becomes champion will get $23,40,000, which is equivalent to approximately Rs 21.8 crore. Whereas the runner up will get half that amount i.e. $11,70,000, which is equivalent to approximately Rs 10.9 crore in Indian currency. Each team losing in the semi-finals will get $6,75,000 and the teams eliminated in the group stage will also not return empty handed. Each team participating in the tournament will receive at least $2,47,500. At the same time, for each win in the group stage, the teams are going to get a separate amount of $ 31,154.
T20 World Cup format
The 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup will start from June 12 and the final will be played on July 5. The 12 teams participating in the tournament will be divided into two groups of 6 teams each. Group A will contain India, Australia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, South Africa and Netherlands. Whereas England, New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Scotland have been placed in Group B.
All the teams in each group will face each other once. After completion of all the matches, the teams remaining in the top-2 of the points table will enter the semi-finals. The title of 2024 T20 World Cup was won by New Zealand, which defeated South Africa by 32 runs in the final. Whereas India has never won the Women’s T20 World Cup.
