Control PC Through Hand Gestures: Continuously advancing technology is turning filmy things into reality. Like Iron Man, you too will soon be able to control the computer with hand gestures. For this you will neither need to touch the mouse nor press any button on the keyboard. The researcher has created a system which will be able to control the computer with gestures with the help of your smartwatch. It looks absolutely filmy, but now it is going to be a reality. Let us know in detail how this system will work.
Researcher prepared this system
Cornell University and South Korea’s KAIST University have together created a system named WatchHand. It turns any regular smartwatch into a hand-tracking device. The special thing is that it does not require any extra hardware. This technology reads hand movement and finger position in real time with the help of AI-powered micro sonar.
This is how work will be done with the help of smartwatch
Any regular smartwatch has a speaker and microphone built-in. WatchHand uses both of these. This system will emit some sound waves from the speaker of the smartwatch, which will hit the hand and reach back to the microphone. This will create a unique echo pattern. The watch will have an AI algorithm to read this pattern. It will read the pattern and prepare a 3D map of the hand position. All this will happen on the watch tied on your wrist, so there will be no worry about data security.
The system will be controlled through gestures like this
If we talk about the use of WatchHand, it may seem very exciting. You can skip any song by double tapping the finger. Similarly, by moving your hand slightly, you will be able to move the cursor without touching the mouse or touchpad. It can also work as a controller in AR and VR. This system will be even more beneficial for those people who are unable to use traditional input devices due to their physical disability.
Everything will be resolved with just a software update.
The WatchHand system will not require any expensive setup or a new smartwatch. The researcher says that this feature can be rolled out on millions of smartwatches with a software update. However, this system also has some limitations. Currently it only works with Android smartwatches. Apart from this, when it is used while walking, it does not work properly.
