RTE Gujarat Admission 2026: Under the Right to Education (RTE) Act in Gujarat, the admission process in private schools has started for the academic session 2026-27. This time the state government has made available about 84,000 seats for the children of economically weaker and backward classes. The objective of these seats is to provide quality and good education to those children who are economically weak and for whom education in private schools may be expensive.
Under RTE, 25 percent seats in class 1 are reserved for admission in private schools. The benefit of this reservation will be given to those children who come from Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and deprived sections.

The age of the child should be 6 years by June 1, 2026. This year, the annual income limit has been kept at Rs 6 lakh, so that more families can benefit.
Seats and instructional medium for children under RTE
The seat allotment process for children under RTE is transparent and systematic. Parents have to register their choice of 8 to 10 schools at the time of application, and seats are given on the basis of children’s preference and availability. If the number of applications exceeds the number of seats, the selection is done through a computer-based lottery. Special priority is given to some children, such as orphans, disabled, child labour, children of martyred soldiers and children of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, BPL and Economically Weaker Section (EWS). Apart from this, education in private schools is given in different languages. Which includes Gujarati, Hindi, English and Urdu.
